I’ve had hit or miss luck with downloading everything at the end, so I’ll probably stick with downloading throughout the sailing. If you are purchasing a package, you will complete your pick up on disembarkation day. Operating hours on disembarkation day will be published, or you can ask a Shutters Crew Member. The line will get longer as the morning progresses, so be sure to arrive early. Use the onboard photo kiosks to see whether you like the photos that have been taken. I booked our picture package.
I personally would only pre-purchase a package if it were going to save me money or unless I just didn’t want to deal with doing it on the ship. Here are some sample pre-purchase prices for different length sailings. Booking your Disney Cruise and wondering if purchasing a photo package is worth it — here are the reasons it is.
How Do You Buy Disney Cruise Photos?

The first stateroom can buy the Disney cruise photo package online. Disney Cruise Line makes it very easy to view and select your photos while on board. Shutters – The Onboard Photography Shop can be found on deck 4 of all 4 ships. With numerous electronic kiosks for viewing photos digitally round the clock throughout your cruise, you can view your photos and pick your favorites daily. To access your photos, simply tap your Key to the World Card at one of the kiosks. Shutters crew members are also available to assist you with scheduling a formal photo session if you wish.
Would I recommend purchasing a Disney Cruise Photo Package?
The photographers on board are professionals, and extremely talented, just like the PhotoPass photographers a the Disney Parks. This means you can trust them to capture your cruise memories perfectly. With several packages to choose from, there is something that will work for everyone and their needs. One good thing about the disc/drive package is that they do take photos in the Oceaneer's Club. If there is a photo of just your child or your child with character (no other kids in the photo), it should be in your collection.
I’ve gotten the memory maker for Disney parks and loved it. The cruise photo package is pretty pricey so I’m wondering if it’s worth it. I would appreciate your insight before splurging. PhotoPass and Memory Maker in the parks can absolutely be split among many, but Disney Cruise Line is a bit different.
One of the best aspects of the DCL photo packages is that there are several options to choose from. Guests both on board and on land can even get a sprinkle of pixie dust in the form of Mickey clouds added to your vacation photos. This works out perfectly for my family since we usually get two rooms for our family of 5. For specific locations and schedules, check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, the Personal Navigator newsletter or stop by Guest Services on Deck 3, Midship. Before your vacation begins, pre-purchase a photo package through Our Cruise Photos. You can pre-purchase items up to 2 days before the start of your cruise.
Disney Cruise Line Photo Package For More Than One Stateroom
As it turned out the girl was a daughter of Bobby Lopez and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez, the composing team behind Frozen and countless other musical theater masterpieces. She was happy to help, but Bobby arrived a moment later and ended up taking my phone and snapping a dozen shots for us. You never know who you’ll meet on a Disney cruise.

I have never done this but I have heard that the packages are 15% cheaper than what you will find onboard but I cannot personally verify this. Hopefully one of my readers can speak to that in the comments below. Even if you don’t want to preorder, visiting the site will give you access to some ideas of the prices for sailings within the next 2 months or so. If I wanted to get their pictures as well, I could do this at 50% discount (off the onboard purchase price) by stopping at the Shutters photo desk during my sailing.

Once my friend downloaded her photos, she was welcome to share them with me, but none of these would be my own individual shots because I did not opt to buy them. The prices above are the rates for photo packages purchased onboard the ships. There are a variety of price points, but the most common is the all-inclusive photo package. These packages include the digital files of all the photos you have taken onboard. Just like in the Disney theme parks, you’re welcome to pose for photos for free.
Many guests choose to take Port Adventures (excursions) while they’re docked in port. Some of these excursions may include a photography element. For example, if you’re swimming with dolphins, the tour provider will almost certainly have a photography component of the event. Be aware that these photos will NOT be included in your DCL onboard photo package. In another example, I recently traveled on the Disney Wish with friends. They were in one stateroom and I (an adult) was in my own stateroom, but our reservations were linked and we ate dinner together and participated in some Port Adventures together.
On sailings where we know we’re buying the package, we make a game of seeing how many photos we can have the onboard photographers take of us. There is a small price break (often 10-15%) for buying your photo package online in advance of your trip. You can do this in the Cruise Activities activities section of the DCL website after you’ve paid in full for your sailing and your activity booking window has opened. (Activity booking windows are based on your Castaway Club status.) Advance photo booking must be completed at least three days prior to sailing in order to get the price break. Let’s say Dad is in one room with the 5-year-old and Mom is in the other stateroom with the 12-year-old.
At any time during your cruise, you can stop by Shutters (mid-ship, adjacent to the atrium) and view your photos. You can view them on a computer screen by swiping your room key at one of the kiosks during Shutters’ operating hours. Note that the facial recognition software is not fool proof, so try and remember each time you have your photo taken and then make sure the photo shows up in your account. If you notice you are missing any photos, ask a Shutters employee to help you find it in the system and add it to your account. You might also see photos of other people in your account, which you can mark as not belonging to you and they will then no longer show up. This will be my first time cruising on Disney Cruise line.
